Glennie Naomi Dick

Glennie was born in South Branch on July 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Glennie (Aiton) McQuinn and the wife of the late Kenneth Dick who passed away in 1968. 

 

Glennie graduated from Sussex High School and continued her education at the Saint John General Hospital, graduating in 1938. She remained a nurse there until her marriage to Ken Dick in 1942. After their marriage, they moved to Saint John and then to Quebec. In the early 1960's, after the children had grown, Glennie returned to nursing as a private duty nurse at the Jeffrey Hale Hospital in Quebec. In 1967, they returned to Saint John where she became head nurse at the east Saint John Hospital. In 1976, Glennie returned to Sussex and retired where she lived until the opening of Kings Manor where she remained until 2006. At the age of 55, Glennie received her driver's license and drove until she was 92. Glennie was a member of the NBRNA and the Alumni of the Saint John General Hospital.  

 
 
 

Glennie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Rideout and Jim Burns of Hillgrove; her son, Hal Dick of Moncton; two sisters: Anne Moffett of Sussex and Beth McFarlane and her husband Lawrence of Sussex; five grandchildren: Trevor Dick of BC, Alison Oliver and her husband Ryan of BC, Matthew Rideout of Jordan Mountain, Mark Rideout and his wife Tanya of Manhurst, and Kathleen Rideout and Shane Reid of Salisbury; three great grandchildren: Madison, Molly and Ryder; as well as several nieces and nephews. 
Glennie was predeceased by her stepmother, Emily (Smith) who passed away in 1946; two sisters: Mary Kelchauser who passed away in 1961 and Jean Welton who passed away in 1991; by her brother, Aiton "Joe" McQuinn who passed away in 1994 and by her brother-in-law, Dave Moffett who passed away in 2007.

Mrs. Glennie Naomi Dick of Magnolia Ave. Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on August 13, 2007 at the age of 95. 

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9pm.                  

The Funeral Service will be held from St. Marks Anglican Church on Friday August 17, 2007 at 11:00am, with Rev. Allen Tapley officiating. There will be a time of fellowship with the family in the Church Hall following the Service. 

The interment will take place at Kirk Hill Cemetery.
