Vaughan’s family was as important to him as he to them.  He was a wonderful, caring husband and father and delighted in his new role as a grandfather.  He had a very good sense of humour and always enjoyed having a laugh with family and friends. Vaughan was an avid photographer, creating many beautiful memories cherished by his family.  In his younger years, he was an enthusiastic athlete, playing tennis and hockey, and he was a proud member of the Wards Creek Warriors hockey team.  Vaughan volunteered as a coach for his children’s hockey and T-ball teams, and he dedicated his time to the Sussex branch of Scouts Canada.  He was a past member of the Trinity Anglican Church Vestry.

For more than 30 years, Vaughan managed the lab at the Sussex Health Centre, finally retiring in 2004. Vaughan accommodated many changes throughout his career, from his beginnings in the one-room lab at the Kings County Memorial Hospital as the only staff person, to his development of the first fully computerized lab in the province at the Sussex Health Centre.  In 1967, Vaughan traveled to Haiti for nine months as part of a volunteer education program to aid the local people in setting up labs, training them in basic lab procedures. Vaughan served on the executive of the New Brunswick branch of the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists.  At one point, he served as the New Brunswick representative on the national board.

Gordon Vaughan Bell of Wards Creek, loving husband of Pat (Waller) Bell, passed away on November 26, 2007 at the age of 64.
