Willard Tremaine Gard

Mr. Willard Tremaine Gard was born in Saint John on May 30, 1922 , he was the son of the late Louis Tremaine and Ethel Mae (Noble) Gard.

Tremaine is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fyrn (McQuinn); his children: Shelly McClary and her husband Richard, Steve Gard and Sherie Gard; his grandchildren; Corey and Katrina McClary, Kody and Aaron Gard and Krystal Cooper; his brother, Ronald T. Gard of Saint John and his sister, Lois Jobb of White Rock, BC.

After serving as an optometrist at Camp Sussex in WW II; he spent his remaining working years in an optometric service in the Sussex area.

Trem was an active member in Kiwanis, Big Brothers and a life time member of Golden K; he was also a Key Club and Keywanettes Advisor.  He was a receiver of many awards: Kiwanis Advisor, SHS Keywanettes Advisor, SHS Key Club Advisor, BRHS Key Club Advisor, Lifetime member of Kiwanis International and Outstanding and unselfish Service for 17 years with Kiwanis Swimming Pool.

He enjoyed sailing, painting, models, gardening, books and movies

 
 
 
Mr. Willard Tremaine Gard of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on February 6, 2008 at the age of 85

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex , (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm .

A Celebration of Tremaine's life will be held from St. Paul 's United Church on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bob Hussey officiating.

As an expression of sympathy donations made to the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
