Alfred Anton Josef Möeller

1939-2005

Alfred Anton Josef Möeller
Alfred Möeller was born March 19, 1939 in the city of Paderborn, Germany, where he lived until his move to Canada in 1976. He was the son of the late Adolf Wilhelm and Wilhelmine Maria (Haag) Möeller. Immediately after finishing his education he joined the family fashion business started by his father. What started as a single Men's Wear store quickly grew to include several stores and boutiques catering to everything from wedding fashions and children's clothing to sporting goods. While living in Europe, he enjoyed travelling, soccer, golfing, books and photography. In 1971, a real-estate ad for a farm in Canada caught his eye and the Heppell homestead in Mount Hebron soon became the family's summer vacation spot. The lure of early retirement soon saw Alfred move his wife Astrid, and children Marion and Andre to Canada permanently in 1976. In 1977 a new baby girl, Vanessa became the latest addition to the family. Early retirement quickly turned into the "Charlotte Ranch" now one of the premier Standard Bred breeding operations in the Maritimes. He enjoyed the farms success in 2004, when the first ever $100,000.00 Maritime-bred yearling colt, raised at the farm, was sold at auction in PEI. Aside from starting a completely new career and enjoying its success, he was thrilled with the arrival of 3 grandchildren; Brittany, Zara and Nicholas. He spent an extraordinary amount of time with them, enjoying their company, large family gatherings and holidays, especially Christmas. His last wish was to be able to stay at home during his illness which luckily was granted. Alfred passed away at his residence on February 25, 2005 at the age of 65.

Alfred is survived by Astrid (Pache) his beloved wife of 42 years, 2 daughters; Marion Morrison and Christopher Gouchie of Mt. Hebron and Vanessa at home, his son Andre and his wife Susan of Mt Hebron, 2 brothers, Claus and his wife Helga of Spain, Udo of Germany, his sister, Gabriella Stegt of Germany, 3 Grandchildren; Zara Morrison, Britney and Nicholas, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4,7-9pm.
