Born in Waterford, New Brunswick on September 26, 1906, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Jane (McShane) Carr, and the beloved wife of the late Edward Parlee who passed away in 1992.

Helen is survived by 5 Daughters, Margaret and husband Joseph Taylor of Sussex Corner; Phyllis and husband Bud Folkins of Sussex Corner; Joan and husband David Archibald of Dutch Valley; Mary Wright of Hamilton; Ruth Voutour of Sussex. 2 Sons, James and wife Helen Parlee of Sussex; Malcolm and wife Winnie Parlee of Apohaqui, 33 Grandchildren, 66 Great Grandchildren, 27 Great Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Great Grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by 2 daughters, Eleanor and Constance, a son Elmer, 2 brothers, Malcolm and Ensley, 3 sisters, Mariam, Eva and Annie, and by 2 grandsons, Richard and David.

Helen was affectionately known as Mom, Gramma, Nannie, and Mrs. P. She had a heart as big as all outdoors. She was always happy and shared her smile and heart with all who knew her. She was devoted to her family and friends, always putting them ahead of herself. She enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and would often ask, How's “wee” great grandchildren? With any invitation Nanny was always ready to go. She spoiled them to a fault, she would sew for them, play scramble, teach them to sew, and even provide jars for them to catch bumble bees. She even had gifts for all of them at Christmas. Among her hobbies were sewing, making quilts, playing scramble, crossword puzzles, writing letters, bingo and cooking. Helen was the happiest when she was cooking for lots of people. She was known for her baking, especially Strawberry Short Cake with “real” whipped cream, donuts and pies. Ed and Helen loved hockey, on Saturday night they watched Hockey Night in Canada even though they would be asleep before the end of the first period and on Sunday night Helen could be found at the 8th Hussars watching a game.
