Mr. Kenneth Brooks of 148 Maple Ave. Sussex, NB passed away at his residence on Monday July 28, 2003 at the age of 77.

Born in Sussex, NB on January 25, 1926, Ken was the son of the late Hon. Alfred J. and Edith Page (Lipsett) Brooks.

Ken is survived by his daughter Lesley Brooks of Montreal, his sons Ken and his wife Monique of Burlington, Ontario, and Alfred of Cambridge, Ontario, his brother Dr. Alfred J. Brooks and his wife Donna of Tottenham, Ontario 2 grandchildren Michèle and Stephanie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ken attended Sussex High School and Mount Allison Academy in Sackville. In 1943, at the age of 17, Ken joined the RCAF and served in both the RCAF and the Canadian Army until the end of WWII. Following the war, Ken finished high school and attended McGill University studying Engineering. In the 1950's Ken was employed with Williams and Wilson Industrial Equipment in Montreal. In the late 1950's, Ken being a true entrepreneur went into business for himself opening the first automated car wash in Quebec City and expanded operations to include further carwash and vehicle maintenance facilities in Ste-Anne de Beaupré, Trois-Rivières, Moncton and Saint John New Brunswick and later acquired Empire Chemical Ltd. and partial ownership in Craw Pools both based in Quebec.

In the Late 1960's Ken relocated to Sussex where he operated the Motel and Restaurant at Fundy National Park. In the winter months, Ken went south to Fort Pierce Florida, where he purchased and operated a vacation rental property. Ken loved the outdoors, he was happiest in his camper in a secluded spot somewhere beside the ocean with a book in his hand.

At Ken's request a private family service will be held at Wallace Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 1, 2003 at 11:00am with the interment to take place in Kirk Hill Cemetery.
