Lloyd Bruce Kennedy
1919-2007
Lloyd Bruce Kennedy of Youngs Cove was born in Youngs Cove on
September 5, 1919, and was the son of the late Bruce and Hazel
(McVicar) Kennedy.
Lloyd served in the Second World War, enlisting with 44 General Transport coy in 1941 where he served in Canada, United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe, then returning to Canada where he was discharged in October 1945. He was an active member of the Grand Washadamoak Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 60, where he was a past officer, past vice president and past president and received the Merit Award in 1977. Lloyd was also very active in his community where he was a past councilor with the Queen’s County Council in the parish of Waterborough.
Lloyd married Stella May Starkey and had seven children, two daughters: Helen Kennedy of Youngs Cove and Colleen Krampl and her husband Robert of Crossfield Alberta; four sons: Wayne Kennedy and his wife Donna of Cumberland Bay, Donald Kennedy and Susan Ferris of Youngs Cove, Barry Kennedy and his wife Lorna of Calgary and Alan Kennedy and his wife Sylvia of Bloomfield, his daughter-in-law, Lise Kennedy and Gordie Davis of Quispamsis; Lloyd has one brother, Colin Kennedy of Saint John a sister-in-law, Audrey Kennedy of Youngs Cove, a brother-in-law James Pincock of Cox Point; 18 grandchildren: Angela, Lisa, Hazen jr., April, Tracey, Christa, Teagan, Luke, Zane, Dennis, Benjamin, Sarah, Jordan, Jake, Krista, Katelin, Maggie, Robbie; six great grandchildren: Kelsey, Corey, Marissa, Trent, Tanner and Jarrett; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd Bruce Kennedy of Youngs Cove passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 11, 2007 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his brothers: Beverly, Clifford and Ralph; his sister, Ethel Pincock, an infant brother and sister and by his son, Hazen.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Monday 2-4, 7-9 pm.
The Funeral Service will be held from Youngs Cove United Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place at Youngs Cove United Church Cemetery.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branches #20 and #60 will hold a tribute Monday evening at 6:45 pm.
As an expression of sympathy donations made to the Youngs Cove United Church Building Fund to the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
