Patricia J. McGibbon

Pat was born at the Sussex Hospital on March 20, 1949; she was the daughter of Gordon and Betty (Wallace) Norrad.  Pat had a difficult time dealing with the fact that when she was born, her mother taped her ears back for aesthetic reasons, until she had Caran. Pat's grandparents spoiled her rotten, setting a precedent for Murray.

Pat was a wonderful sister, but not a great babysitter. One day she was supposed to walk Nancy to the rink but left her at Sharp's Corner where she was hit by a truck. Fortunately, Nancy was not hurt at all but Pat paid big time. In school, Pat was very active in sports as well as being a cheerleader. She had many friends and this is when she met Murray and fell in love when she was fourteen. After graduating from Sussex High, Pat went on to Saint John Technical School and eventually worked in Saint John. She headed out West to spread her wings. Eventually, she made her way back home to Murray who was waiting, never to be apart again, they were married on September 18, 1971 and went on to have three beautiful girls. They built their home, opening the doors to one and all and that never changed throughout the years. Pat followed the kids in their sports, making her presence known in the stands by her cheering and laughter. She rang the halls. Pat loved to travel whether it be cruises or by air, but no trips were better than the road trips. They were very special and even had one designated as "Red Jeep Day".

Pat was very involved in her community and especially her Church. Pat was the recipient of the Paul Harris Award. She has been blessed throughout her life with a wonderful and loving family, many friends whether new or old and an unwavering faith to help her through the days where a hand was needed. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister in law and friend. 

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Patricia Jean McGibbon who passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday November 23rd at the age of 62 .The legacy she leaves behind will be one of love, kindness and faith. She will be missed. She will live on in the hearts of husband, Murray; her mother Betty of Sussex; three daughters: Caran Seward and her husband Sheldon of Red Deer, Alberta, Brandy McGibbon of Sussex and Coleen Gibson and her husband Morgan of Sussex; seven grandchildren: Liam, Blake, Riley and Nate Seward, and Connor, Bailey and John Paul Gibson; her sister Nancy Swift of Sackville, NB; two brothers: Gord Norrad and his wife Pat of Courtney, BC and Tom Norrad and Maureen O'Reilly of Halifax  NS as well as several nieces and nephews: Sam and his wife Elsie of Victoria, BC and Sarah Norrad of Victoria, BC and Luke Norrad of Ottawa and Cale Norrad of Lower Sackville, NS., Dale Long and his wife Nancy of China, Bonnie Brake and her husband Sandy of Millbrook, Jeremy Jackson and his wife Sheri of Sackville, Ryan Jackson and his fiancé Jen of Sussex Corner, Heather Jackson of Toronto, Troy McGibbon and his wife Vanessa of Sussex, Joel McGibbon and his wife Jessi of Sussex Corner, Garrett Kaye and his wife Gillian of Quispamsis and Holly Carhart and her husband Justin of Moncton; her sisters-in-law: Doreen Busson  and her husband Reg of Chipman, Anne Jackson and her husband Bruce of Sussex, Brenda Kaye and her husband Roy of Sussex Corner, Kenneth McGibbon of Churchill, MB,  John McGibbon and his wife Mary Anne of Sussex. Pat is predeceased by her father Gordon "Dode" who passed away in 1999, her brother in law, Bill Swift who passed away earlier this year and by parents-in-law Archie and Jean McGibbon.
