Understanding Cremation?
Most funeral homes advertise "cremation services", but what does cremation really mean?
Cremation is the process of reducing the human body to bone particles and ash by direct flame and intense heat.

Is there a waiting period before cremation can take place?
Yes. In the province of New Brunswick, cremation can only take place 48 hours from the time of death.

Can I have a funeral service with cremation?
Yes. Wallace Funeral Home feels that everyone is entitled to have a funeral ceremony that is personal, meaningful and a tribute that will last long after the funeral is over. We believe a life lived is a life worth remembering.

Is embalming required?
No. Wallace Funeral Home suggests embalming only if you decide to have public visitation prior to cremation.

 

Is a casket necessary for cremation?Crematoriums require that the body be placed in a container suitable for cremation. Wallace Funeral Home offers a variety of cremation containers that are economical and are manufactured specifically for cremation.

Does the Catholic Church allow cremation?
Since Vatican Two, the Catholic Church has permitted cremations as a means of disposition, though it is not the preferred method.
